About

A nonprofit built around one word: access.

WorkforceConnect expands access to career opportunity by connecting students and individuals with the experiences, education, training, resources, and relationships that help them build meaningful careers.

Who we are

WorkforceConnect is the nonprofit

Our legal name is WorkforceConnect. Our public brand is WorkforceConnect.org. We are a charitable organization, and everything on this site is written from that position.

Our role

Connector, convener and funder. We link people to programs, bring partners together, and fund the costs that block access. Where training is delivered, it is delivered by partners and we say so.

Our region

San Diego and the surrounding region. Working locally is a deliberate choice: pathways are regional, relationships are regional, and outcomes are easier to verify close to home.

Our approach

Start with the barrier, not the program. Exposure, cost, navigation and relationships are the four things that most often decide whether someone reaches a career.

History

Where we came from

WorkforceConnect grew out of work connecting people to construction and skilled-trade careers in the San Diego region, and has since worked across technology and manufacturing as well. Specific dates, milestones and program history are being verified before publication — we would rather leave a gap than publish a story we cannot substantiate.

Leadership and governance

Our team and advisory board

WorkforceConnect is led by a staff team and supported by an advisory board of education, industry and community leaders who volunteer their expertise.

Our leadership team runs programs, partner relationships and the scholarship program. Our advisory board brings the perspective of the employers, schools and community organizations that people actually reach through this work.

Advisory participation at WorkforceConnect is never available for purchase and is not a benefit of any gift.
